After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md (Class of 69), Dick served in the Navy for five years. During that time he served to deployments and two special missions to Viet Nam and completed his Master’s Degree in Human Behavior and started work on his Doctorate in Business Administration. He left the Navy, completed his Doctorate, and shortly thereafter started his own management consulting practice.
During the past thirty years he has started and successfully run several small businesses, including a nursing and allied health training college with thirteen campuses in California, a leasing company, and an intellectual property development company.
During his three year tenure as President of The Ken Blanchard Companies, he took them from $20M to $40M in annual revenues while increasing profitability and expanding the company’s global reach. Lyles also worked with the University of San Diego to create a strategic alliance with the Ken Blanchard Companies to develop and implement a Master of Science in Executive Leadership program (MSEL) which has become the business school’s flagship program. He has served successfully as CEO of several other companies including a strategic management consulting company, a thirty-three station radio network, and Origin Entertainment.
Dick Lyles is one of the founding Board Members of Act One, Inc. In addition he has served as the lead faculty member for the Act One Exectuive program since its inception. Act One has trained more than 500 writers and 90 executives for Hollywood careers.
To date he has authored seven books (including the best seller, Winning Ways) that have been translated into more than three dozen languages around the world.
